Air Selangor’s Senior Management Visit to MACC

Recently, our senior management team, led by our Acting CEO, Ir. Abas Abdullah visited the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), at Putrajaya. We were greeted by the MACC’s Director of Agency Integrity Management Division (BPIA), Dato’ Nor Azmi Bin Karim and his team.

During the visit, we had the chance to share our governance plans on integrity which further received valuable insights and helpful feedback from MACC in delivering and executing the plans. Dato’ Nor Azmi expressed his appreciation to Air Selangor for showing our commitment to embrace the requirements of Section 17A and commented that Ir. Abas Abdullah was the first CEO who visited the MACC office to discuss the plans. This visit also resulted in a greater height to work closely with MACC in forming a strong “Integrity Partnership” in the future.

As part of our continuous efforts on integrity in ensuring good governance and acceptance of Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption (ABAC) best practices, we are now going through the certification process to attain the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification from SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd (SIRIM QAS), the Malaysian certification body for ABMS.

In early 2022, we became the first water services provider to achieve full compliance with the MACC Section 17A’s requirements on the provision that requires commercial organisations to take appropriate and parallel steps to foster the growth and development of a business environment that is free of corruption and implementation of measures to business activities do not involve acts of bribery and/or corruption. This feat was acknowledged by MACC and our regulatory body, the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN).
